Wieder in der Wärme - 3 Monate Grenada ! - Die Zeitplanung ist voll in die Hose gegangen und wir können es aushalten, da es hier schön ist, viel Abwechslung geboten wird und die Menschen sehr nett sind
Once again in the warmth. We planned to be in Bonaire before Xmas and not february => that did not work! Much to do on the Island, on the water and on the boat. We meet many nice people!
Montag, 05.11.2012, 22:30 – "Obdachlos" - (Christian)
Wir sind in Tobago nach gut 10 Stunden angekommen, sind dort durch den Zoll und dann gleich weiter zum Einchecken für den Weiterflug. Da es zwei Gesellschaften sind, war es nicht möglich das Gepäck durchzuchecken, so dass wir gleich wieder Übergepäck bezahlen mußten, 50 USD für 16 Kilo ist ok. Die Lady am Counter war sehr nett und mußte ca. 1 Stunde auf unser Gepäck aufpassen, da wir zum bezahlen in ein Ticketoffice mußten, bei dem alles mit einer Nummer zum Ziehen organisiert ist, was den Besucherstrom schön kanalisiert, aber die Bearbeitung nicht schneller macht.
Meine neue Eurocard wurde nicht angenommen => hoffentlich nicht wieder der Anfang einer unendlichen Geschichte …
Der Flug nach Trini dauerte 20 Minuten und überraschte uns mit einer Infrastruktur, die wir viel größer erwartet hatte. Der Flughafen in Tobago ist zwar kleiner als in Trinidad, aber die Wartemöglichkeiten besser. Wir können hier erst 1 Stunde vor Abflug in den Wartebereich, was die Zeit bis 06:40 noch unbequemer macht als vorgesehen.
Jetzt allerdings ein Hotel für ein paar Stunden zu suchen, erscheint uns auch keine sonderlich tolle Lösung zu sein.
Uns unter eine Palme zu legen und den Sternenhimmel zu bewundern fällt heute auch aus => Es regnet wie blöd (wir haben kaum noch Wasser auf dem Boot und können leider erst morgen den Wasserfänger riggen (der Tank wäre heute voll geworden!)).
Vor einem Flug in die Karibik, könnte es sehr wertvoll sein das Gepäck mit Folie wasserdicht umwickeln zu lassen … (Unser Gepäck in Grenada war in der Tat naß! Und ein Griff fehlte, so das die Tasche Schrott ist (dafür will Caribbean Airlines nicht aufkommen!)) (Nachtrag 30.12.: Auf meine Beschwerde habe ich wie erwartet nie Antwort bekommen).
Wir warten im Restaurant, dessen Küche geschlossen ist, aber die Tische und Bänke sind frei zugänglich => nicht absolut gemütlich! Dafür ist ein tippender Touri im Lokal für die lokale Jugend sehr interessant; hier sind die Abstände einfach näher als in Deutschland (sonst würden in die Kleinbustaxis auch nicht 18 Leute passen). Hier gibt es freies WiFi!
Dieser Raum ist auch etwas wie die Besucherterasse, Zwei Mütter mit einer Horde süßer, kleiner Racker war eben hier. So zierlich die Kleinen sind, so gegensätzlicher sind die Mütter, die locker mein Gewicht +50% auf die Waage bringen, aber einen Kopf kleiner sind als ich. Da ich ja fast zierlich und gertenschlank :-)) bin, sind dann die Damen-Oberarme kräftiger als meine Oberschenkel => Mal schauen wie die süßen Kleinen in 30 Jahren aussehen ...
Montag, 05.11.2012, 23:30 – "Fluglogistik" – (Dagmar)
Die Rückreise zum Boot war ein Marathon, da wir 3 Flüge, 4 Flughäfen, eine Fähre und mehrere Taxifahrten hinter uns bringen mußten (und jedesmal diese Einreisezettel ausfüllen...).
Insgesamt betrachtet lief alles ziemlich reibungslos, zum Glück.
Wir mußten einige Stunden des Nachts in Trinidad auf dem Flughafen zubringen und fanden ein paar harte Holzbänke (Christian: Luxusreise!!!) in einer abgelegenen Ecke, sodass wir etwas schlafen konnten.
Aber geschlaucht waren wir hinterher doch ziemlich.
Dienstag, 06.11.2012, 08:30 – "Will ich das überhaupt?" - (Dagmar)
Wir sind inzwischen aus D zurück im beschaulichen Carriacou - mit einem weinenden und einem lachenden Auge, zumindest was mich betrifft.
War recht schön in der Heimat, haben durch die hemmungslose Esserei etwas zugenommen, das können wir ja bei der hiesigen Versorgungslage wieder abschmelzen....
Jetzt müssen wir uns erstmal wieder an das Bootsleben gewöhnen. Und ans Knautschbrot.
Erfreulich, dass unser Boot in sehr gutem Zustand ist, kein Schimmel und alles soweit in Ordnung (nur der übliche Verschleiss).
Jetzt denken wir drüber nach, wo wir Wassermacher und Solarpanele einkaufen, und teils einbauen lassen sollten.
(Hatten vor den Wassermacher in D zu kaufen, aber das war wegen Preis, Lieferzeiten und vor allem Gewicht eine Illusion )
Eigentlich wollen wir ja grob Grenada, ev. Tobago und dann ABC-Inseln abspulen, aber vielleicht müssen wir doch nochmal nach Martinique hoch deswegen.
Ich hoffe sehr, dass die Temperaturen noch etwas runtergehen und ich mich dann wieder etwas energievoller fühle, aber vielleicht ist das nur Wunschdenken.
Das WIFI hier funktioniert immer noch nur ab und zu, leider ist man ja so abhängig davon um Infos zu bekommen, aber immerhin bekommt man im Slipway Restaurant gutes Essen serviert.

Ein eigenartiges Gefühl, dass unser Wohn- und Schlafzimmer wieder wackelt.
Das Wetter ist gut: ca. 27 Grad im Wasser und etwas mehr in der Luft. Die Wettervorhersage ist für die nächste Zeit auch gut!

Habe heute unseren großen Gecko gefunden. Er lag in der ansonst leeren Kakerlakenfalle, die eine Klebefalle ist. Zur Bewegungsunfähigkeit angeklebt und bei vollem Bewußtsein durch Hunger und Durst in den Wahnsinn und Tod getrieben => so möchte ich nicht sterben.
Wednesday, 14.11.2012, 07:30 – "Exhausted" – (Christian)
We worked hard on the boat for the last week to get her into sailing conditions again. Riggcheck, sails up, re-storage for sailing, provisioning, improvements, maintanance, etc.
Still, the new toilet needs to be installed, the solarpanels and the fridgemotor to to be checked.
Dagmar has to find out where best to buy solarpanels and a watermaker.
The motor maintanance we might do in Grenada, because here I do not know where to get environment-friendly rid of the old oil.
During the work we heard the audiobook “Der Namen des Windes (Tag 1)” which was nice => 2 parts still to be heard, but not available now!
My skin went mad. The mosquito bites went huge and hard and I got 25qcm blisters on my right feet and do not know why.
3 days ago I got an Q-Tipp-Ear aswell. Due to cleaning my ears I got an infection (wrong world!)! It aches and is itching. Dagmar filled my ear with olive oil => it became better afterwards. TODAY we found the ear-medicine in the fridge!
I think we will be ready to leave at the weekend. Before I want to dive at the sisters but my ear has to be ok first!
In 6 weeks xmas is over!
Mittwoch, 14.11.2012, 19:30 – "Angekommen?" - (Dagmar)
Die Hitze macht mir zu schaffen, aber abends ist es jetzt doch manchmal so kühl, dass ich eine leichte Schlafanzughose anziehe!!! Vor allem wenn es geregnet hat.
Auf unseren Regenfänger bin ich sehr stolz, ist nur immer ein bißchen Gefummele wenn ich die Kannister aus dem Ankerkasten rausnehmen muss, aber dieser ist ja erfreulich geräumig bei uns.
Leider dauern die üblichen Regenschauer meist nie länger als 5 min. und da sammelt sich dann fast nix an, für den Aufenthalt unter Deck aber sehr gut, da es extrem schnell saunamäßig wird, wenn die Luken zugeklappt werden. Vielleicht gibt es ja irgendwann demnächst mal einen richtig ausdauernden Regen.
Unsere Fitness hat sehr nachgelassen, fett und faul liegen wir (nach den Bootsarbeiten!!) im Cockpit herum....
Leider mußte ich erfahren dass meine Patentante vor kurzem verstorben ist, das macht mich natürlich traurig, vor allem da wir uns länger nicht gesehen haben und ich auch nicht zur Beerdigung gehen kann.
Solche Ereignisse machen mir auch wieder bewußt, dass man Träume und Vorhaben nicht aufschieben sollte, da eben keiner weiß was morgen ist.

Bin total ausgepowert und habe Lust zu nix. Produktivität heute war fast Null, dafür habe ich gemerkt, dass wir die Vorsegel nochmal runternehmen müssen, da wir die Fallen nicht gekürzt haben und so die “alten”, ggf. geschwächten Stellen wieder an der selben Stelle sind, was ich nicht haben will!
Meinem Ohr geht´s wieder besser (aber noch nicht gut!).
Ich bin traurig, dass sehr viel Arbeit bei meiner Mutter in Deutschland hängenbleibt.

On shore some guys are going around with a sort of garden-blower and not only air but very thick and dense smoke comes out of the machines. It smells aweful like tar and something else. If I had know that they are fighting the mosquitos because of the Dengue-fever tonight, I would have moved the boat into another bay, but now it´s dark ...
Wednesday, 21.11.2012, 20:30 – "Our plans" - (Dagmar)
Christian is often suggesting topics for writing to me, this time I should tell about our further plans for sailing in the coming months.
But first I want to talk about reading, I love my new Kindle, altough I am not 100% pleased with the fact, that I can only purchase ebooks with Amazon, as many german ebooks are in a different format and sold on different platforms.
And many of the classics ebooks have a lack of proper spelling and grammer, sometimes it is hard to read them fluently. But they cost nothing, so I wont really complain.
I have half and half german and english books on my Kindle and try to read both as well, which is not too easy, as I have a love for old english novels. But there is a dictionary included which is usefull, but also only in english.
At the moment, I try my luck with Arthur Conan Doyles” Sherlock Holmes stories and because I know them all, it is managable to read these in english.
If I only could keep all the new words there in my mind, I would have a much bigger vocabulary.
But I loose them as quickly like I did with most words in spanish.
What a pity, or maybe only lazieness?
Now some words to our plans for the next sailing months:
We will try to stay for one or two weeks at Grenada, then heading to the ABC-Islands, on Bonaire we would like to do some dives and then proceed to Curacao. It could be that we spend Xmas there or on sea.
(Note from January: That idea did not work out very well..)
After that, depending on the mysterious “Christmas winds” (strong winds which makes the passage around the north tip of Venezuela/Columbia hard and unpleasent) we will sail west towards Panama and there we would like to stay some months and travel to Peru (via Airplane), but we have to discover a safe place for our boat first.
And then we decide if it comes (ca. April) to the channel-passage into the Pacific with more than one very long journey from island to island. Hopefully we have as much weather-luck as we had since leaving Europe. If not, I will need many of these little pills.
Thursday, 22.11.2012, 14:00 – "Diving the sisters" - (Christian)
Finally we managed to do some diving with the Arawak Divers at “The Sisters” which are two rocks in an nature reserve.
On our way to the islands we saw a whale just 15m from our boat starting to dive down! Finally a whale!
Underwater we saw some black corrals and learned that they are not black in the water, but look a little bit like a christmastree, They turn into black only after drying out / being dead! Unfortunately the whale did not join us!
It was nice, easy going and colourful. We liked it.
Thursday, 22.11.2012, 16:00 – "Diving Taitonga" - (Christian)
The propeller was in very bad shape (we smeared special-grease on it in Spain and that disappeared someday without warning). It took me 25 minutes with the rest of my “sisters-dive-tank” to get all the sponges and shells (oysters!) of it. In the place where our keel is getting up and down a little habitat formed itself with lots of fish, sponges and shells.
It was hard cleaning-work and I was exhausted afterwards.
Our anode on the propeller is nearly eaten completely. Either I get a new one on the shaft underwater or we have to get an haul-out quicker than expected and do the whole antifouling!
The Trilux 33-Antifouling disappeared on some places like the bow (and the old white one is visible), but the hull is fairly ok. Plenty of weed, but few barnacles. It will take approx. 2 hours of snorkeling to get the weed off.
Freitag, 23.11.2012, 16:00 – "Beautiful Sandy Island" - (Dagmar)
Heute endlich war es soweit: wir haben Tyrell Bay verlassen, zwar sind wir nur 3sm weitergefahren, aber sind jetzt an einer Mooring vor dem idyllischen Sandy Island.
Ist nur eine kleine hufeisenförmige flache Sandinsel mit Palmen zwischen Tyrell Bay und Hillsborough.
Morgen wollen wir weiter nach Grenada, in eine der vielen Buchten im Süden vor Anker.
Da morgen Nacht etwas mehr Wind angesagt ist, könnte es hier an Sandy Island zu unruhig, weil zu ungeschützt, sein. Außerdem sind 20kn Wind zum Segeln ja nicht zu verachten.
Mal sehen, was wir auf Grenada so organisieren können, von dem was uns noch fehlt, zumindest die Verproviantierung sollte sich wieder deutlich verbessern.
Allerdings: heute gab´s Toast mit Salami und Ei-Auflage, das war trotz “Anchor-Käse” aus Neuseeland (!- als ob die hier keine Kühe melken könnten....) schon ein kulinarisches Highlight bei unseren bescheiden gewordenen Ansprüchen.
Friday, 23.11.2012, 21:00 – "Sunset at Sandy Island" - (Christian)
Great! I had an island for myself only (because Dagmar wanted to stay onboard)! The sunset was very nice. The colour of the sky turned from blue with some white clouds over to yellow, orange, red and then grey dark clouds with enlightend fringes.
After having only stars on the sky, now the moon went up behind the hills and the sand 40m away reflects it´s silvery light.
There is always a but? Yes: Moskitos and the bass-sounds of the loudspeaker in Hillsborough about an mile away! And I have to do some work on the computer. No Wifi. And I have to check the route for tomorrow and for this passages especially the tides, because there are floodstreams up to 4 knots mentioned in some places on / near the way.
BUT it´s realy nice here!!!
Saturday, 24.11.2012, 11:00 – "Passage to Grenada" - (Christian)
Finally we moved. The weatherforecast said something around 15-20kn => good conditions.
To check the tide and the expected currants was a bit tricky, because we had to estimate at what time we would be where to figure out what conditions and currantdirections to expect.
In the channel between the islands are currants up to 2 knots (east-west) and east of Grenada are currants up to 1 knot (north-south).
I do not like to have a situation wind against currant => The waves can get very nasty then.
Finally: During the passage we caught our first fish with realy big eyes (Horse Eye Jack oder auf deutsch Grossaugen-Stachelmakrele)!

Habe eine Bestellung für die Spezialbatterie für die Ankerwinschfernsteuerung auf den Weg gebracht.
Warum gibt es für ein und dieselbe Batterie 5 Bezeichnungen?
Bei der Suche wurde mir zwar schnell die korrekte angezeigt, aber ohne dass ich meinen Suchbegriff im Text finden konnte!?! Was es ein wenig schwierig machte war das die Typbezeichung auch noch “12V” hatte, aber eine 3 Volt Batterie ist => Wie doof!
Die Suche und vor allem die Verifizierung, dass ich die korrekte bestellt hatte, hat mich schlappe 2,5 Stunden gekostet => das Leben könnte so einfach sein!
Sonntag, 28.11.2012, 17:00 – "Eine Schraube" - (Christian)
Ich habe das Motorpanel aufgeschraubt, um an die Elektrokontakte zu kommen, da ein Gerät ohne Anzeige ist.
5 Schrauben waren ok. Eine war festkorrodiert (Edelstahl-Aluminium). Ich habe einen “Entschrauber” ausprobiert, probiert die Schraube mit einem Körner langsam herauszulösen und dann habe den Kopf der Schraube weggebohrt. Nachdem ich 2 HSS-Bohrer kaputt gemacht hatte, lieh ich mir bei Dominique einen Cobaltbohrer => damit ging es durch den Edelstahl wie durch Alu!
Den Schraubenrest habe ich mit einer Gripzange herausdrehen wollen => ist abgebrochen => also habe ich versucht mit meinem inzwischen auf Grenada gekauften neuen Cobaltbohrer die Schraube komplett wegzubohren => Sinnlos!!! Ich habe zu guter Letzt rund um die Schraube Löcher gebohrt und dann die Überreste rausgehämmert.
Arbeitszeit + Nachdenkzeit + Beratung einholen + Einkaufen: Ca. 10 Stunden!!!!!!!
Die Kontakte habe ich gereinigt und geschmiert => Das Instrument ist immernoch ohne Anzeige!
Sonntag, 01.12.2012, 11:00 – "Keine Motivation" - (Dagmar)
Heute vormittag sind wir wieder per Dingy rüber zu Secret Harbour Marina, weil dort ein boat-jumble stattfand. Also ein Flohmarkt für Bootszubehör, es waren aber auch “fachfremde” Stände da, die Schmuck und Klamotten feilboten.
Leider war nichts wirklich Brauchbares für uns dabei und wir verbrachten die Zeit mit Arbeiten am PC und im Internet. Immerhin haben sie da eine Nespressomaschiene!!!
Nachmittags gings wieder zurück zum Boot, ist insgesamt eine ca. 20-minütige Fahrt, ein bißchen enttäuscht waren wir dann schon von dem Vormittag.
Wir haben momentan das Problem, dass wir wenig Motivation aufbringen, alles sehr mühsam finden und zu nichts recht Lust haben.
Irgendwie kommen wir in unseren „zu erledigenden Aufgaben“ nicht so richtig weiter.
Wir sind sozusagen in der Midlife-Crisis unserer Reise.
Wenigstens haben wir schon 4 Baumärkte und einige Supermärkte besucht und finden es dort im Vergleich zu Carriacou wie im Schlaraffenland.
Und wie einfach ist es doch in Deutschland Sachen organisiert zu bekommen! Alleine eine feste Postadresse für Internetbestellungen ist extrem hilfreich …
Dienstag, 04.12.2012, 17:00 – "Shoppingbus" - (Christian)
Hier wird 2x die Woche eine Bustour zu den umliegenden Einkaufsmöglichkeiten angeboten. Ein sehr netter und günstiger Service, da die Kosten per „Public-Transport“ höher durch die vielen Stops wären.
Ein straffes Programm: Wir waren innerhalb 3 Stunden in einem Obst- und Gemüsemarkt, einem Obst- und Gemüsegeschäft, einer Bäckerei, 2 Schiffsausrüstern, 2 Supermärkten und 2 Baumärkten.
Mittwoch, 05.12.2012, 17:00 – "Sehr schleppend" - (Christian)
Wir hadern immernoch mit unseren Solarpanelen und dem Auskranort, an dem wir unser Antifouling auf den Rumpf neu auftragen werden, damit wir nicht noch mehr Muscheln mitschleppen!!! Irgendwann muß der Knoten platzen! Wenn wir noch etwas bestellen wollen, werden die Postlaufzeiten wegen Weihnachten unseren Zeitplan noch mehr aus dem Ruder laufen lassen!
Donnerstag, 06.12.2012, 00:30 – "Nikolaus fällt aus" - (Christian)
Ich habe gerade nachgesehen: In meinen Schuhen ist nix!!! Nun ja, Flip-Flops sind auch für Nikolaus extrem ungeeignet. In Dagmars Sandalen ist auch nix!
Unsere Adventsstimmung ist auch sehr verhalten, eher nicht vorhanden. Das wir in den Supermärkten mit „White Xmas“ beschallt werden (paßt bei den Tiefkühltheken!!!) und uns eine Dame schon „Happy Holidays“ gewünscht hat, reißt es auch nicht raus. Ich bin froh, dass ich meine komplette Weihnachtskeksration schon vor dem Abflug intus hatte!!!

It was nice, but nature is better in Dominica. I lost 55USD while putting on dry cloth after swimming under a waterfall!
Cutty is a great source of informations! We liked the tour.
PS from Dagmar: thats a bit too less on information about one of our rare days of „in fact sightseeing“: We were a little group of six passengers on Cuttys bus and visited the touristic places on the island. First one of the Forts here which had good sights over St.Georges and the backcountry.
We swam under a waterfall, where young Grenedians jumped into the pool, we had a meeting with two Monamonkeys, which were cute and not like their cousins at Gibraltar.
Then we visited a factory where they make chocolate and a rum factory with waterwheel.
The rum they produce is only for the island, they can just meet the quantity needed on Grenada itself. And I stuck my nose near it: its hard stuff, over 70%.
The real attraction at the tour is Cuttys knowledge of the plants and the nature on the island, you can learn a lot from him.

In den letzten Tagen beurteilte ich die Chancen, dass wir beide zusammen auf Taitonga Panama erreichen, auf nahezu Null. Die Stimmung war schlecht und aggressiv. Ich glaube meine Stimmung war noch schlechter als von Dagmar!
Der Unterschied „Zivilisation und geregeltes, gewohntes Schlaraffenland in Deutschland“ und „Leben auf dem Boot“ ist extremst krass.
Ich bin noch nicht im „Cruising-Mode“ angekommen und fühle mich „total deutsch“ => grausig!

Wednesday, 19.12.2012, 19:00 – "Dinghykonzert" - (Dagmar)
Because we wanted to visit one of these concerts very much, we postphoned our haul-out.
We met Silvia and Reinhard again, whom we met first in St.Martin some month ago and saw every now and then along the island chain.
We moved together to the platform in Clarks-Court-Bay-Marina, where the concert was going to start soon.
They installed a platform and a tugboat and some yachts together and all the dinghys come and tie up a t one another. Some of the expirienced visitors had drinks and food with them, but there was also a bar to get drinks from at the platform.
For the music there was a steelband, called the „Wizards“ and it was great fun to hear their songs and to watch them perform.

Afterwards we had a good pizza at Whisper Cove Marina, and a good chat as well.
Silvia and Reinhard had news and stories from Trinidad, we are thinking about to sail there, although we had not planned this until now.

We made a research on the possibilities and prices for a haul-out: Carriacou => 700 USD
(Haul-Out 385; Sanding and Antifouling 315) Grenada, Spice Island => 877 USD
(Haul-Out 562; Sanding and Antifouling 315) Grenada, Grenada Marine => 748 USD
(Haul-Out 433; Sanding and Antifouling 315) Curacao => ~1.000 USD
(Haul-Out 611; Sanding and Antifouling ca. 22H = ~400) Trinidad IMS => 700 USD

For us it was important to live on the boat, even if it stands on the hard. A chandlery on the yard is good too! In our schedule Grenada Marine fitted best.
They did a professional haul-out and were flexible, but because the bad rain and the Xmas-days they did only the powerwash and sanding; we had to do the painting ourself!
We needed 10 liter Trilux33 in Seville, but here it would have been better to have 15 liters; the paint drys on the roll!
This place is sandfly and mosquito contaminated! Even “Off” did not help to prevent them from eating us!
In the doyle guide it is mentioned that the water in the bay is clean so you could go for a swim after work => I would not do that. About 100 qm are smurf-blue around us from powerwash and sanding our hull => the remains of our biozid-antifouling!!! This place has to be polluted by all the boats here (antifouling, paints / oils / acids …)!
Despite Island Water World on the premises, we did not found 100% suitable anodes, so we improvised and used what was there (we had to drill some extra holes to fit them onto our hull).
We launched on the 24th and were absolut exhausted. 4 days are to short!

Cool, wir haben jetzt eine Hühnerzucht in Afrika! Dagmar´s Schwester hat uns diese geschenkt und unsere Hühner werden von irgendjemanden in Afrika gefüttert und dafür erhält er Eier (und irgendwann dann auch die Brathühner) als Gegenleistung!
Ansonsten ist Weihnachten für uns dieses Jahr nicht wirklich existent.
Dienstag, 25.12.2012, 17:00 – "Weihnachten" - (Dagmar)
Tja, wieder mal ein Weihnachten fern der Heimat, aber wir haben in den Depeschen von zuhause von fast tropischen Temperaturen dort gelesen, also war wohl doch nicht soviel Unterschied, zumindest was das betrifft.
Hier ist auch noch oft Regen, obwohl jetzt die Trockenzeit anfangen soll. Aber das ist ja vom Wassersammelstandpunkt nur gut.
Den Weihnachtsabend haben wir still anbord verbracht, waren doch, nach den Tagen mit Malern usw. in der Marina, gebügelt. Geschenke gibt’s mangels Möglichkeiten nicht wirklich.
(Wir hatten im Oktober in Deutschland auch nicht daran gedacht – und außerdem sowieso Übergepäck)
Dafür waren wir am 1.Feiertag schön mit Silvia und Reinhard essen im „Little Dipper“, einem kleinen urigen Restaurant. Es gab Lobster und Conch zu sehr ordentlichem Preis, und schmeckte lecker.
Noch ein paar emails verschickt und bekommen (danke für alle guten Wünsche) und dann war Weihnachten auch schon Vergangenheit.
Freitag, 28.12.2012, 14:00 – "Ruhige Tage" - (Christian)
Ich wollte weiter nach Trinidad den Teersee anschauen, mit Jesse James eine kulinarische Inseltour machen, Badeanzüge schneidern lassen für 30 Euro und billig Diesel einkaufen! Ich glaube mir würde es dort gefallen´, weil auch viel indischer Einfluß dort ist und ich eine große Affinität zu Indien habe und dort unbedingt hin will ...).
Wir haben beschlossen Trinidad sausen zu lassen und direkt nach Bonaire zu fahren.
Allerdings hatten wir direkt nach Weihnachten keine Lust uns zu bewegen, wir brauchten noch etwas Zeit uns zu erholen und Ordnung in das Boot zu bringen und noch etwas zu basteln.
In Saga Cove fühlen wir uns sehr wohl, trotz viel Wind, der uns direkt auf die Steine schieben könnte. Unsere Batterien sind durch unsere Windmühle wieder auf 100% Ladung.
Ich habe zur Zeit die „Tendenz“ einfach die Dinge laufen zu lassen, in der Zeit die dies benötigt und ich kann dies aushalten (einigermaßen)!

What can I say: today I looked around as I sat in the cockpit and there was a unexpected guest on our dinghy: an Iguana.
I don“t really admire these creatures, but Christian got very excited about it: Get me the camera, hurry up and so on...
I was more concerned if the thing was not stiching a hole into our one and only dinghy.
It lay there a long time to warm up after the cold swim it had to come to us and then it tried to board our big boat!!! We had not noticed him doing that, but Christian heard a splash and then I saw it swimming around the hull and as it noticed me watching, it dived away.
We saw it swim in direction to Hog Island for quite some time, and think it managed it in the end.
But I had not invited it for another unannounced visit at our place.
(Christian: It actually was on deck of our yacht afterwards aswell!!! It managed to come onboard which I thought should be not easy …. She or he likes us!)

Today I volunteered as netcontroller for the Grenada Cruiser´s Net at 07:30 local (duration between 45 and 60 minutes), because it is a great service, we benefited from and I want to support it.
The net gives the cruisingcommunity a platform for exchanging informations like services needed or activities. Most important are weatherinformations for the cruisers and the fishermen. Because for the fishermen this is a very important source of information, Grenada provides an repeater on VHF 66 international, so the broadcast reaches up to ca. 80 miles!
For the preparation we had to create an account on facebook (Something which we never wanted to have, because the privacy of the data seems to be not adequate!). For storing informations for a big group it is a helpful platform: Grenada Cruiser´s Net.
Moderating an VHF-Net is like a telefoneconference with 30 people => It is fun, but takes quite an amount of concentration; I was glad that I am used to conduct such conferences in my project management job.

I connected our LED-Strips on the steering-column. It took me a whole day, because I had to solder the cables to the led-strips and then to squeeze some cables into the tubes supporting our plotter and after realizing that the compass-housing is more about 6mm thick and I can not fit in the switches here, but in the plotter-housing so I had to squeeze in one more cabel ...
I was very happy after the first light given through the LED´s!!!
At night a fuse blew out and I realized that I did a wrong wiring / polarity => tomorrow once more (I think I do not have enough crimp-connectors left ...)!

Wir haben einfach nur anbord gut gegessen und das Feuerwerk bestaunt, von dem wir ein bisschen mitbekommen haben. Vorsätze gibt es keine, Pläne dagegen viele, aber sich zu entscheiden und damit voranzukommen, wird die Herausforderung.

Magnolia did the Cruiser´s net today in recordtime => 12 minutes (nearly nobody was on the air).
I want to leave this island this week, otherwise we will have not enough time in Peru and Panama. And we have to get a nice weatherwindow for the passage between Curacao and Cartagena, aswell we have to calculate some time for waiting for the canalpassage (This waitingtime is dedicated to install the watermaker).
The weaterforecast looks not bad for a passage to Bonaire.

Die VDO Anzeige für Kriechströme zeigt einen Fehlerstrom von -10mA an. Irgendwo verschwindet Strom und kann dazu führen, dass unser Metallrumpf elektrolytisch zersetzt wird.
Die Ursache zu finden wird extrem schwierig; ich habe dazu 3 Bücher (in Auszügen) gelesen und bin immer noch nicht schlauer.
Donnerstag, 03.01.2013, 19:00 – "Verpaßt" - (Christian)
Unsere Verwandten sind heute mit einem Kreuzfahrtschiff in Grenada. Wir überlegten, sie in Curacao zu treffen, hatten den Plan beerdigt und wollten vor Neujahr nach Trinidad.
Den Plan haben wir auch fallen gelassen und sind immer noch in Grenada. Durch unser Hin und Her haben Maja, Markus, Julia und Sarah dies gar nicht mehr mitbekommen. Unsere Mail war auch ein wenig spät dran und die SMS wurde nicht gelesen.
Wir haben versucht die 4 am Pier oder auf ihrem Boot zu treffen => haarscharf verpaßt (wir durfen so kurzfristig nicht an Bord => Schade! => Ich habe mich über uns geärgert !
Unseren Lieblingstaxifahrer Shademan haben wir abends noch getroffen und gelernt, dass er den Kontakt sehr einfach hätte herstellen können, da er auch für dieses Schiff Ausflüge durchführt => Pech!

Ohne Dinghy kommen wir nicht an Land und das Gefühl ist wie auf einer Insel ausgesetzt zu sein!

Tonight there were some gusts which I guess were about 30knots. Not very comfortable, but safe with 40 m chain on 7 to 8 m depth.
The weatherforecast for the next days is telling gusts up to 29knots => Probably we will move the boat to a more protected area of the bay, so we do not get 100% soacked when we will take a dinghyride ashore.
Friday, 04.01.2013, 12:00 – "Greasepump" - (Christian)
While we test the dinghy in the davits we removed the outboard and I greased it with our new greasegun from starbrite. It was not pleasent, because the manual of the pump is only a very small notice with about 6 drawings, but in the text they refer to about 10 drawings. It worked very bad and if you have never used a greasegun before, it could be a good idea to ask someone first.
(Here there wasn´t anyone around to ask => bad luck!).
There are some little, but important things to know before getting grease out of that thing. It took about an hour, nearly one of my arms and a whole spilled greasecartridge until I got the first results!
=> I have to buy more grease now.

The Dinghy is ok again / still (I am really glad!!!!!)=> a valve lost some tension and caused the airloss. We went to the Dinghyconcert with our little dinghy!
This is an event which makes cruising and living on a boat fun!
Wow what a concert! The lady touched my heart. It was absolutely great!!! I am so happy we had the chance to participate.

We left Sagacove because the weaterforecast and searched for a new spot quite a long time.
Near WhisperCove is a shallow spot with 1,80m marked in the chart. This spot is not where it should be. It is more to the SE and it is about 1,60 m deep! We marked the top of the spot with blue antifoulingpaint so other cruisers can find the spot easier.
We are not happy with our new place because it is very rolly! It took me about an hour at night to find out where a certain click-clack originated and to get some "calmer" sleep afterwards.

Wir haben nur noch 24 Grad und abends habe ich mir sogar eine lange Hose angezogen. Ich habe eine böse Erkältung bekommen. Scheißkälte. Und alle paar Stunden kommt eine Böenwalze mit Regen!
Es ist offiziell Trockenzeit, aber in der Rainyseason im Sommer hatten wir weniger Niederschlag (und es war wärmer!)

Werner hatten wir in St Martin unsere alten Batterien geschenkt und er wollte sein Boot verkaufen, um wieder nach Deutschland zu fliegen, damit er dort eine bessere medizinische Versorgung hat.
Wir haben gerade die Nachricht erhalten, dass er Ende letzter Woche gestorben ist.
Das hat traurig gemacht und mich sehr an meine eigene Sterblichkeit erinnert.

Ich hatte wegen einer Verlängerung in meiner Bank angefragt und diese erhalten. Ich empfinde dies als ein Zeichen von Wertschätzung, die mich froh macht!
Heute konnte ich das Dokument drucken lassen (nicht ganz so einfach hier einen Drucker zu finden) und dann unterschrieben zurückgesandt!
Ein wirklich gutes Gefühl, bis Ende September 2014 Zeit zu haben!!!

We bought a Walker Bay Odysee 270 Airdeck, foldable Dinghy.
The plan is to get more comfort, travelling faster and drier aswell as have our old dinghy as a security-spare-one. For that we have spend over 1.500 USD.
Dagmar named it "Donkey", because it is grey and carries all our stuff and us as well.
Now we will search for a used 8 (maybe 10?) hp 2-stroke.

Ich habe heute nochmal das Netz moderiert. Ich halte dies für eine sehr sinnvolle, hilfreiche Institution, die ich gerne unterstütze.
Wir wollen in den nächsten Tagen auschecken und nach Bonaire weiterfahren. Bis dahin müssen wir noch ein paar Bestellungen aufgeben und herausfinden, ob wir hier noch einen gebrauchten Blister kaufen können, der ein wenig größer ist als erwünscht.

I took a day of and joined the Hobiecat-Matchrace. 16 Participants.
My brain worked at maximum to check all the alternatives at once and it was so trilling that I got a very dry mouth!
My start was fantastic and then I drove into a calm area and the following boat saw it and turned soon enough => In total I am on the 9th place (together with 8 others....). The wind died and the second part of the matchraces had to be canceled. They will resume it next sunday (without me).
It was great fun !!!
Montag, 21.01.2013, 09:00 – "Noch sind wir nicht weg" - (Dagmar)
Da wir unsere Ausrüstungsteile noch nicht bestellen konnten, weil wir noch keine Quote für den Versand erhielten, werden wir heute noch nicht starten.
Werden wohl morgen den Shoppingbus nehmen und nochmal die üblichen Shops abklappern und uns verproviantieren. Hier kann man irgendwie gar nicht sinnvoll für viele Tage frischen Proviant einkaufen, da alles unheimlich schnell angammelt, trotz Kühlschrank. Also muss man dauernd los für Nachschub.
Bin ich froh, wenn wir die Recherche/Bestellungs-Brocken hinter uns haben und nicht mehr dauernd im Netz rumsuchen müssen.
Wir machen es uns vermutlich auch selber schwer und überlegen zu lange hin und her.
Aber lieber so, als dass wir nachher wieder Teile haben, für die es keinen passenden Platz unter Deck gibt. Oder die Zusatz-Einkäufe nach sich ziehen ( Frau denke an neues Kleid erfordert neues Paar Schuhe...).
Christian hat gestern in der Phare-Bleu-Marina an einem Matchrace mit Hobiecats teilgenommen, welches leider mangels Wind nachher abgebrochen wurde.
Donnerstag, 24.01.2013, 09:00 – "Motorwartung" - (Christian)
Wir machen alles selbst (zumindest einmal) ist die Prämisse, damit wir im Notfall im Nirgendwo eine Chance haben uns selbst zu helfen. Wir haben das Getriebeöl vom Außenborder gewechselt und alles geschmiert, was zu schmieren ist (Zündkerze hatte ich schon gewechselt).
Bei der Hauptmaschine haben wir Motor- und Getriebeöl sowie Ölfilter gewechselt
Unser Boots-Motor kostet einen 5-stelligen Betrag und an der Bedienungsanleitung hat Yanmar böse gespart. Der Aufbau ist so Scheiße, dass ich das Ding 3 mal gelesen haben und erst Dagmar hat herausgefunden, dass wir 6 Liter Kühlflüssigkeit zum Wechseln benötigen => Wir haben nur 5 Liter an Bord und müssen jetzt nochmal einkaufen ...
Kühlflüssigkeit und Dieselfilter sind für das WE vorgesehen.

All the dishes of Grenada you get on the Victoria Food Fest. 17:00 to 21:30 for 30EC each.
I was a bit surprised => Not too many booths there. I expected something bigger and the variety was not really big (rabbit and turtle was an exeption, but we do not eat turtles and I do not like rabbit => looks too close to a cat). Nothing grilled or panfried. Mostly boiled or deepfried. We left at 21:00 and found out most people come later (even some dishes were sold out at this time).
The creole feeling wasn´t sparking on me. (We make better food on the boat :-)
Samstag, 26.01.2013, 23:00 – "Victoria Food Fest" - (Dagmar)
Heute war das Food-Fest in Victoria angesagt, das wollten wir sehen; an fremden Töpfen zu naschen, ist immer interessant.
Leider war es, wie oft hier, kleiner als erwartet und die meisten Stände hatten so ziemlich das gleiche Futter zu bieten.
Was wir hatten war lecker, ein bißchen mehr karibischer Pep könnte aber oft nicht schaden.
Es gab frittierte CouCou, das ist eine Art Maisbrei der in Stückchen ausgebacken wird und schön knusprig war. Mit dem überall beliebten, in Salz eingelegten Fisch, können wir uns nicht so anfreunden, vor allem Christian hält da Abstand.
Wir haben auf der Fahrt die beiden Inhaber und Betreiber von "Merry Bakers" kennen gelernt und uns wirklich nett unterhalten. Das Brot und die Burger freitags haben wir schon mal erwähnt, ist wirklich einen Besuch wert. Die Story wie die beiden hierher gekommen sind, haben wir verlinkt: The Merry Baker, Port Louis, Grenada

Wir waren im "Phare Bleu" auf dem Rock-Blues-Konzert von "Doc Adams", den ich im "De big fish" schon mal gehört hatte. Brutal laut, so dass wir uns einen Tisch hinter der Bühne suchten, wo es leiser ist und was sagt der Typ eine Minute später: "If it is too loud you are too old!" => fühle mich gar nicht so alt, wie die meisten hier aussehen, muss wohl ein Irrtum sein.
Wir haben die sehr nette, irische "Karma"-Crew wiedergetroffen, die uns im Anschluss auf Ihr Schiff eingeladen haben. Etwas größer als wir, aber 25 Tonnen-Stahl-Langkieler => unter den Bodenbrettern kann der Skipper aufrecht in der Bilge stehen => unglaublich viel Platz!

We changed the coolant (The one I bought can now stay up to 5 years in the motor)!
We adjusted the alternatorbelt!
We tryed to change the fuelfilters => I can´t move it and the wrench I bought is too big => we have to go shopping once more!
Furtheron I downloaded a servicemanual for our engine (395 pages and hard to find!) to add some knowledge to the "normal"manual.
Dienstag, 29.01.2013, 23:00 – "Einkaufen" - (Dagmar)
Haben es bisher nicht geschafft, die beiden Dieselfilter auszuwechseln, da wir beim ersten Versuch leider bemerken mussten, dass das im Shop gekaufte Werkzeug nicht passte. Und per Hand bekommt man diese Dinger einfach nicht ab.
Also heute nochmal Shoppingbus mit Shademan und zu Budget für nen Neuen, der hoffentlich passt...
Shoppingbus funktioniert so, dass an bestimmten Tagen Shademan oder Trevor in einem oder zwei Marinas mit dem Minibus vorfährt und man kann sich einfinden und er fährt eine immer ziemlich gleiche Route zu den relevanten Shops ab. Kostet nicht viel Geld und man kann an einem Vormittag ziemlich viel erledigen. Was nicht so gut geht, ist sich gemütlich in einem Laden umzuschauen. Da scharren dann die anderen schon mit den Hufen.
Meist sind wir natürlich die Letzten die den Bus wieder besteigen.
Nach dem Trip wird der ganze Kram ins Dinghy geladen und heimwärts getuckert, was gerade heute zu reichlich Spritzwasser geführt hat: waren überladen.
Im IGA, dem größten Supermarkt hier, gabs wie immer seit Weihnachten keinen grünen Salat. Auch sonst läßt die Gemüse und Obstabteilung momentan sehr zu wünschen übrig. Wir sind inzwischen wieder etwas verwöhnt. Ich mag ja Gurken und Tomaten, aber muss es jeden Tag sein seit Monaten?
Na, ja, es könnte natürlich auch noch viel schlimmer sein.
Nach kurzer Pause mit Pizza von gestern, düsten wir wieder mit viel Spritzwasser über die Bucht, weil wir uns in der Whispercove-Marina mit Bob treffen wollten und über Tips für den Pazifik reden.
Habe dort gleich zwei Ladungen Wäsche auf den Weg gebracht, allerdings gibts wie oft hier nur kaltes, wenn man Glück hat, lauwarmes Wasser dafür.
In weiser Voraussicht haben wir nicht unsere Galagarderobe auf diese Reise mitgenommen und es tut dann nicht so weh, wenn wieder etwas kaputt gepflegt wurde oder das Teil mehr aus Flecken besteht als aus sauberen Stellen.

Bob is living here in the Bay on his boat Tasneem and gave us many good informations about sailing to Panama and further on into the Pacific.
After having this chat with Bob, we decided to join him watching the movie at Oasis-Bar. Tonight was shown: Skyfall, the newest James Bond.
And as we had not had the chance to see it at cinema, we did it here and it was fun. (=> Christian: Not for me)
I liked it, although Christian had difficulties, because it was very loud. And many times they spoke in a way, that made it hard to understand it, if english is not your first language. (=> Christian: This plot can be understood even if it is shown on Hindi with Kisuaheli subtitles)
But not much love in that movie, mostly shootings and carcrashs, but that is this tough Daniel Craig style, maybe.

Bob is a nice Gentleman who rests in himself and god (something which I found out is very common for long-time/long-distances sailors, especially single-hander).
He shared his expiriences from a circumnavigation and living onboard for 14 years with us in a prepared, very structured way. Meeting him was special for me, somehow very harmonic and somehow I feel connected to him.
Some informations where not very nice to hear. I am aware of the weak security in the carebbean, but had no knowledge about the pirates in the pacific. We have to dig into that deeper.
We got some good advice on dealing with storms and waves => he expierenced 40 ft / 12m waves and has an aluminium centerboard-boat similar to ours.
As an addition we got some nice recommendations on anchorages.

We made it and are done with it.
Replacing the fuelfilters was an adventure and I went nearly mad after I found out that the new oilfilterwrench (2) is Bullshit. I will buy a No.3 asap!
It was realy a big surprise that the motor after bleeding the system started at the first time and everything is ok!!! => unbelivable!
Now we have to find transmission-oil sae 30 as a spare (not in stock here)
Donnerstag, 31.01.2013, 19:00 – "Interneteinkäufe" - (Dagmar)
Wir haben wenig Chance Preise zu vergleichen und die richtigen Dinge einzukaufen, ohne Internet (und Lieferadresse).
Also abonnieren wir das hier angebotene WIFI für entweder 8 USD am Tag oder 25 USD in der Woche.
Wir hätten gut auch einen Monat nehmen können, aber das wissen wir wieder mal erst hinterher, weil wir eigentlich ja schon viel eher weiterwollten...
Problem ist, dass die 2 Bootsausrüster hier das meiste nicht haben, was wir gerne möchten und ein Container mit Neuware kommt nur alle 6 Wochen.
Solarpanel und Regler lassen wir nach Curacao liefern, hoffen bloss dass nicht allzuviel dazwischen kommt.
Den Wassermacher lassen wir nach Panama kommen, da steht uns noch ein interessanter Einbau bevor.
Aber dann kennen wir das System hinterher wenigstens genau....?!
Und dann überlegen wir was wir noch so brauchen oder wollen könnten, um es mit einpacken zu lassen.
Erstmal muss man rausfinden wo die Firmen hinliefern, bzw. Mit welchem Carrier man es hinbekommen könnte, falls nicht. Dann wieviel das kosten könnte.
Danach muss man eine Lieferadresse finden, da hilft uns die Mitgliedschaft im TransOcean Verein sehr, da gibt es ein weltweites Netz von Stützpunkten die man nutzen kann.
Irgendwie bezahlen muss man auch und dann hoffen, dass (siehe oben) nicht allzuviel schief geht und die Ware im Ganzen heil ankommt.
Und man sie durch den Zoll bekommt.
Ohne viel extra zu bezahlen.
Also am besten ist überhaupt, wenn man alles vorher schon einbaut und ausrüstet und dann unterwegs nur noch das Nötigste einkaufen muss.
Aber was weiß man vorher schon, wenn man neu in dem Geschäft ist?

I wanted to check out for Monday => They do not do this, because the date is to far away! I have to come back here tomorrow or Sunday (and then have to pay overtime because it is weekend)!
Two people are in the office 7 days a week and I think that maybe between 0 and 10 boats are needing the service each week (a way to keep the unemploymentrate as low as 30%?).
Nevertheless, it was a very nice guy at costums who gave me some papers so I can fill them out on the boat. And I recieved the info that I can pay with USD aswell but not with creditcard.
I fueled up our gasoline 10 L so we do not have to bother of it in Bonaire. Aswell I took 50L Water at the marina. The guy giving my my suplies was not very costumerorientated nor structured well => Only on after the other, not giving me the possibility to get the water in the canister while he would get the fuel in the other => This inability to think in series and consequences we were wared to get in the Pacific (here it is the same?).
The guy noted the start-numbers of the meter and than typed it into his telefon to be send to the office (100m away) (I would have been so kind to take his paper to the office aswell ...).

I went to the office for paying. This time I had to pay for water a doubled amount (7,50 EC) compared to the last bill. So that is how it went:
C: For how many liters I have to pay?
Lady: 147L
C: But I filled only two 25L Canisters, so that´s not plausible
Lady: That´s the info I got => I call the guy
Guy: Bla Bla on the telefon
Lady: Oh, that´s only the figures. It is not equvalent to liters
C: For how many liters I have to pay?
Call out of the off: 15 EC
Telefoncall for the Lady (out of the off): Bla Bla
Lady: I get my supervisisor
Supervisisor: We changed the billing it is 15 EC as a flatrate, because you didn´t knew that you only have to pay the 7,50. We changed to a flatrate because the process is to expensive to note all the start and endingfigures.
I paid my doubled amount and did not asked again how many liters I paid for (the bill says 147L), recommended to consider telling the guy at the fillingstation about the flat rate aswell and left ...
The amount is of course not worth spending 15 minutes on this subject, but I am a bloody typical german and I hate things like this!
Nevertheless: Everyone in the office was nice and polite and the Marina is a nice place and the waterquality is good (But next time I get my water at Whisper Cove :-) .

We meet Inga (the nice voice on the cruiser´s net) and Margit and Bob aswell at the boatjumble. It was nice to see them!
We sold our bicylces because we need the space for the new dinghy!!! And to the same couple we sold afterwards on the boatjumble (Not many people and goods there!) our windward/Leeward-guides. The buyers invited us for a sundowner and showed us their big catermaran "Novae" => great, very beautiful and unbelivable space!!!
We had a great evening!

Doing the fotos => not countable, we do it anyway
Choosing the best, suitable fotos from about 600 fotos (I limit myself!) and 20 videos => ~ 2:00

Samstag, 02.02.2013, 16:00 – "Tafeln und Schlemmen wird überschätzt" - (Dagmar)
Alltime favorites von Taitonga:
Kürbissuppe creolisch ( Kürbis gibts hier fast immer käuflich zu erwerben und in guter Qualität, Kokosmilch gibts als Trockenpulver in Tütchen- sehr paktisch anbord)
Pasta mit Tomatensoße ( hat man immer anbord und viele Reste, z.B. aus Dosen können dazu )
Limonenkuchen ( die super Backmischung aus Spanien hab ich nie wieder gefunden, daher gibts jetzt nach einigen Versuchen einen Rührteig mit Limonen und einer schönen süss-zitronigen Glasur)
Köttbullar oder Buletten ( sind gut vorzubereiten zum Unterwegs essen )
Pizza wie schon mehrfach erwähnt ( Riesensauerei in der Miniküche, aber sehr lecker )
Grillen von allem möglichen ( draußen Kochen hat Vorteile...)
Ravioli aus der Dose ( zuhause undenkbar, aber hier ein Highlight )
Asiatisch a la Christian ( immer wieder anders und meist sehr scharf )
(Christian: Ich finde nicht, dass Essen überschätzt wird => extrem wichtig!!!)
Mangels Platz ( für diverse Alkoholika ) und Eiswürfeln gibt´s keine ganz korrekte Cocktailstunde bei Sonnenuntergang, aber zum Campari-Orange ohne Eis und Fruchtsaft plus Rum reicht es doch.
Und sonst kann ich mir das auch ab und zu an Land gönnen.
Den besten Rumpunch gab´s auf Nevis – voll korrekt mit Muskat draufgerieben.
Und den besten Rum pur gabs bei Silvia und Reinhard anbord: Zacapa aus Guatemala, schmeckt echt gut für ´nen Rum.
Montag, 04.02.2013, 10:30 – "Ausklarieren" - (Christian)
Unser Visum läuft heute ab und Bonaire ruft.
Wir hatten viel zu tun in den letzten Tagen, um das Boot wieder startklar zu bekommen. Gleich fahre ich zum ausklarieren und Wetter checken, bringe dann den Müll weg, Bob eine Flasche Wein und gehe nochmal einkaufen bei WhisperCove. Danach das Dinghy saubermachen, zusammenlegen, mit den letzten Sachen verstauen und dann los.

We anchored quite outside west of the marked channel to SpiceIsland-Marina in 9m with 45m chain.
Swell comes around the corner and is reflected by the shoreline. Sometimes everyone rolled liked mad! Dagmar hated it (me too)! It would have been calmer nearer the beach. It is easy to get shore services and buses here. The waterquality is ok.
Clarks Court Bay
We anchored between the Hogs-Island-Bridge and Whispercove-Marina in 9m with 40m chain. Sometimes swell came in, but it was not uncomfortable enough to get another place. It would have been calmer nearer to the bridge. And very calm on the other side of the bridge in lee of Hogs Islands, but there are many boats. The waterquality is not good, poor sight underwater => much fouling!
We anchored between Calvigny and Grenada in 10m with 50m chain. Much wind, which is good for electricity. Nearly no swell !
We anchored in Saga Cove on the windwardside of Hogs in 7m with 35m chain and once more in 8m with 45m chain in mud. Much wind (up to 30 knots), which is good for electricity. No swell ! Water looks much better here. A dinghyride to luv (everything is in luv!) means we are wet before we arrived somewhere with the old dinghy / with the new one we are only sometimes, partly wet! Nice surrounding and only max. 2 neighbours => for us the best place !!!
We anchored in front of Whispercoce Marina in 9m with 50m chain, because some wind was forcasted. Good internet access. Very, very ugly swell ! Water looks not good. I hated it here.
Whispercove-Marina is a nice place with a few berths, fresh bread and a butcher. WIFI you get for an hour if you buy a drink. The washing machines (toploader) are cheap and ok ( only cold water...).
The best washing machines were at Grenada Marine, the cloths got really clean! But you must make sure to be one of the earlier customers, as there is only a certain amount of sunwarmed water on the roof for the machines.
Clarks-Court-Bay-Marina has about 40 berths. The burgers are ~ok, but much better in Carriacou and St. Martin “Barnacles” is still the best. We did not try the washing machines, because they are toploaders like nearly everywhere here. No WiFi, but plug-in for 3$. In case of leaving the boat for some weeks during the hurricane season I would choose CCBM, but first choice would be still Carriacou-Mangroves.
Little Dipper is a restaurant on the eastshore in Woburn with a great view, good food and little prices => real value!
Security
I felt very secure!
Only one dinghy was stolen in 3 month and found again on the shore; an missing oar was found again some days later with some help of local fisherman.
(Jibber-jabber tells, that the local big boss of maybe not absolut legal in-/exportations does not want his businesses being disturbed by some idiots stealing little things from boats and solves disturbences his own way and that this makes it save for cruiser ...)

Quite often Budget has the better prices! The problem is that both are not well stocked and that it takes a long time for them to get new items out of the container into the shelves => So even if I had been to one of them, it could be that they have what I want in the shelves tomorrow (or never) => This Oligopol should attract some competitors!!
What scares me is that we heard: "If you have to buy stuff, do it here. Going west it will get worse!!!"
